Avikus marked a significant milestone in its European expansion with a high-profile industry event held at the Piraeus Marine Club.
Organized by Oriani Hellas, the gathering showcased Avikus’ entry into the Greek maritime sector, a key step in its broader strategy to lead the adoption of AI-powered navigation technologies across Europe.
Under the theme “From Vision to Voyage,” the event brought together many prominent figures from the maritime industry, including shipowners, classification societies, and technology leaders. Attendees explored how artificial intelligence is transforming safety, efficiency, and operational decision-making at sea.
The event was opened by Mr. Philip Nielsen, General Manager of Avikus in Europe, who welcomed the audience and highlighted the strong and longstanding relationship between Greece and South Korea in the maritime sector.
Featured speakers included:
• Dohyeong Lim, CEO of Avikus, who delivered the opening remarks and introduced the company’s vision and technology
• Are Jørgensen of DNV, who presented the new AROS notations for autonomous and remotely operated vessels
• Matthew Maheras, CIO of Metrostar, who discussed AI and data-driven transformation in fleet management
• Jungwoo Seo, CSO of Avikus, who introduced the HiNAS product suite
“We are entering a new era where autonomy is not just an innovation—it's a driver of tangible value for global fleets,” said Dohyeong Lim. Greece, as a leader in global shipping, plays a pivotal role in shaping that future.
The event represents Avikus’ first commercial engagement in Greece and underscores its commitment to expanding its presence and partnerships throughout the region. The company’s AI-based navigation platforms—HiNAS Control and HiNAS Cloud—are currently deployed on more than 400 vessels worldwide, helping shipowners improve fuel efficiency, lower CO₂ emissions, and enhance navigational safety.
The presentations sparked great interest among attendees, leading to an engaging Q&A session with numerous insightful questions throughout the event. This enthusiastic participation reflected the maritime industry’s growing curiosity and readiness to embrace smart navigation technologies.
Event highlights and media assets will be available on Avikus’ official website and LinkedIn page following the event.
