Island Oil is pleased to announce that it was awarded the Silver Award in the Social Leader category at the ESG Shipping Awards International 2026, which took place during the annual gala ceremony and awards dinner on Friday, 15 May 2026, in Athens.
The ceremony brought together more than 400 maritime companies and industry stakeholders from across the global shipping sector, reflecting the continued acceleration of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) transformation within the maritime industry.
Now in its fourth consecutive year in Athens, the Awards received a record number of nearly 300 entries, with more than half submitted by international shipping companies representing all continents, further confirming the growing global momentum behind ESG adoption and responsible shipping practices.
Within this highly competitive international environment, Island Oil was recognised for its strong and consistent commitment to advancing social responsibility across its operations. The Social Leader category highlights organisations that demonstrate measurable impact in areas such as employee wellbeing, safety culture, inclusion, and community engagement.
