Iasonas Lalizas*: LALIZAS – Supporting  Shipyards In Delivering Safety At Sea

January 13, 2026 3 minutes read
IASONAS LALIZAS

With over 40 years of proven expertise in the field, LALIZAS has supplied life saving and fire fighting equipment to numerous new building projects ranging from passenger vessels and ultra-luxury cruise ships, to commercial ships, tug boats and navy projects, and continues to work on multiple ongoing and upcoming vessel constructions worldwide.

In today’s complex maritime landscape, the construction of new vessels demands not only innovation and precision, but also strict adherence to international safety regulations. As a global leader in marine safety equipment, LALIZAS plays a vital role in supporting Shipyards and Ship-Owning Companies in the supply of Life Saving Equipment (LSE) and Fire Fighting Equipment (FFE) for New Building Projects across all Bluewater sectors, including Commercial and Passenger, as well as Offshore and Navy Projects.

With 8 manufacturing facilities in strategic locations and a sales and service network in over 130 countries, LALIZAS provides worldwide coverage ensuring availability, continuity of supply, and rapid technical support

EARLY INVOLVEMENT: THE KEY TO SAFETY AND EFFICIENCY

LALIZAS’ approach is centered on early-stage engagement. By participating from the “Budgetary Proposal” phase, LALIZAS can effectively evaluate the specific equirements of each vessel type, ensuring that every safety solution offered fully complies with Class Society and Flag State regulations.

This early involvement is not only beneficial for compliance but also a mutual advantage for the shipyard. Product Technical drawings and 3D renders of the LSE & FFE equipment provided by LALIZAS, allow naval architects and project engineers to visualize installations with precision. This facilitates optimal space allocation and seamless integration of LSE and FFE systems during the design and outfitting stages.

DEDICATED NEW PROJECTS DEPARTMENT

To coordinate these complex and time-sensitive projects, we operate a dedicated New Projects Department, exclusively focused on serving the shipbuilding sector. This specialised team acts as the central point of contact between shipyards, design offices and LALIZAS’ internal divisions including R&D, Production and Regulatory Compliance. By combining technical know-how with project management expertise, the department ensures each vessel receives a tailored, compliant and

efficiently executed safety solution from concept to delivery.

EXPERTISE AND SUPPORT THROUGH EVERY STAGE

Every new building project presents its own set of challenges: from interpreting evolving international regulations and managing multi-supplier logistics, to ensuring proper certification, documentation, and timely delivery within the project timeline. In addition, differences in vessel design, onboard space constraints, and varying Class or Flag requirements make it essential to have a partner who can offer both technical reliability and regulatory insight when it comes to safety equipment. At LALIZAS, these complexities are addressed by our in-house R&D Department and Approval & Regulatory Compliance Department, which offer customised and up-to-date solutions.

EXPERIENCE IN LSE & FFE SOLUTIONS

LALIZAS offers a comprehensive range of Life Saving Equipment – liferafts, life jackets, immersion suits and other critical safety equipment – as well as loose Fire Fighting Equipment, such as fireman suits, breathing apparatuses, fire extinguishers, fire hoses, nozzles and more. Each product is designed and manufactured in accordance with international marine standards and approvals, reflecting our company’s commitment to quality, reliability, and operational readiness.
