At a special ceremony held on Wednesday, September 9, at the headquarters of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in London, a model of the Greek salvage tug AIGAION PELAGOS was placed on display at IMO headquarters.
The ceremony was attended by IMO Secretary-General Arsenio Dominguez, representatives of the Embassy of Greece in London, including the Office of the Maritime Attaché in London, representatives of MEGATUGS Salvage & Towage and distinguished members of the international maritime community.
The commemorative event follows the recognition by the IMO in November 2025 of the Master and crew of the salvage tug AIGAION PELAGOS for the exceptional courage, professionalism and dedication they demonstrated during the unprecedented salvage operation involving the tanker MT SOUNION, which was struck by Houthi forces in the Red Sea in August 2024.
