MSC Cruises and Explora Journeys have announced that they are the first cruise lines to receive recognition for applying the ISO 30415:2021 international guidelines on diversity and inclusion in human resources management, following an independent assessment by RINA.
According to the companies’ official press release dated 30 October 2026, ISO 30415:2021 provides a framework for embedding diversity and inclusion principles into HR processes and practices. The recognition acknowledges progress made across the two cruise brands.
Three years of assessment and improvement
The process began in 2023 with a gap analysis and concluded in 2026 after three years of assessment, consultation, evidence gathering and continuous improvement initiatives. RINA assessed offices and vessels to evaluate alignment with the guidelines, reflecting the complexity of the cruise businesses’ international operations.
Initiatives included the Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee, which brings together internal representatives and external specialists, dialogue with suppliers and partners, and updated HR policies covering recruitment, career development and the wider employee experience.
Recognition presented aboard MSC Grandiosa
The attestation was formally presented on 27 October 2026 aboard MSC Grandiosa in La Spezia, Italy. The ceremony was attended by Magali Bertolucci, Vice President – People Development, Diversity, Inclusion & Wellbeing at the MSC Group Cruise Division, and Emanuele Castagno, RINA’s Executive Vice President Certification.
Bertolucci highlighted the diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences represented among employees at sea and ashore, and described the independent assessment as both recognition of existing work and an opportunity for further improvement.
Castagno emphasised the companies’ commitment to translating inclusion principles into practical organisational measures, supported by employee engagement and ongoing dialogue.
